Curves Waives Joining Fee for New Members During Breast Cancer Awareness Month This October
 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Curves continues to work to raise awareness in women about the life-saving importance of risk management, early detection and treatment. Throughout the month, Curves women’s fitness centers throughout the nation are waiving the joining fee for new members who show proof of a mammogram within the past year or make a $25 donation to breast cancer research. Curves Complete 90-Day Challenge Finalists Unveiled at Expo
 The two top finalists in Curves’ Complete 90-Day Challenge revealed their new looks during the South Dakota Women’s Expo on Sept. 24 at the S.D. State Fairgrounds.
Carol Koepke (r) of Mitchell and Helene Wedel (l) of Huron lost a combined 61.75 pounds and 45.25 inches on the 90-day Curves Complete program. (more)

Curves' 3rd Annual Not for Sissies Day Celebrates Strong Women and Military Families
 Curves owners, staff and members worldwide celebrated the third annual Not for Sissies Day by donning camo prints and performing feats of strength and courage in their communities.
Curves International also announced that as of June 2011, 539 of its independently owned and operated clubs are enrolled in the IHRSA Joining Forces Network, an affiliation of health clubs offering free memberships to the immediate family members of actively deployed Reservists and National Guard members throughout the U.S. (more)

Curves Partners With Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity
 Curves International and Habitat for Humanity are proud to announce a partnership to build for a Temple, Texas family this fall. The build will provide a home for a single father with three children. A construction schedule has not been set but work is estimated to begin in September.
The project is a Women Build, meaning that while both women and men are welcome to participate, women are highly encouraged to do so. Women’s groups and individuals can contact Habitat to register to volunteer once the construction scheduled has been set. (more)

Curves Circuit with Zumba: Trends Show More Exercisers Use Music to Get Fit

A group of women jump up and down, wiggle their hips, and move side to side to the rhythm of breezy Latin-American music, while instructor Krista Lorenzo pumps them up with smiles and verbal instructions.
"Single, single, double!" Lorenzo says, as she directs the class members' sideways steps in the Zumba dance class at the Curves gym in Collier PA.

Curves' 13th Annual Food Drive Kicks Off in April
During the month of April, Curves gyms will participate in the 13th Annual Curves Food Drive to collect non-perishable food and cash donations to benefit community food banks. Current members who make a $30 donation or an equivalent donation of food are eligible to receive a Curves reusable Food Drive grocery bag at participating locations. And, from April 4-17, participating Curves clubs will waive the membership fee for new members who donate a bag of non-perishable food or make a minimum donation of $30 (more)

Curves Founders Gary and Diane Heavin Go Undercover on ABC's Secret Millionaire
Curves founders Diane and Gary Heavin have always known the importance of giving back. In fact, the inspiration for the annual Curves Food Drive--now in its 13th year--came from years of working at their local food bank, serving and ministering to those in need.
Even during the busy years of founding the world’s largest fitness franchise and bringing express fitness to millions of women, they continued their philanthropic efforts. Although their charitable work was still occasionally hands-on, much of their giving was in the form of check writing.
So they were thrilled when ABC called to invite them to audition for their new fall show, Secret Millionaire, in which people of means infiltrate some of the most impoverished neighborhoods in America with the goal of finding deserving organizations or individuals to help. The millionaires must agree to give away at least $100,000 of their own money. (more)
